Tijd-kritische gefaseerde uitvoering

Challenge
This project is executed under a highly demanding schedule, with the majority of the work taking place during a series of short, pre-planned production standstills.
In-between these planned interventions, the crane must return to full operational status to support ongoing production.
Expertise
Ons Installatieteam is verantwoordelijk voor al het elektrische werk, en werkt nauw samen met De Roeve Mechanical, dat verantwoordelijk is voor de mechanische aspecten van het project.
The solution: Engineered for a second life.
To give this 1965 double-girder overhead crane a new lease of life, we delivered a complete electrical, mechanical and technological revamp. A full EPLAN design and 3D-driven engineering let us prepare every intervention in advance and carry out the work during short standstills. Modern Sinamics drive technology, a robust network with fibre-optic communication and RFID-secured access turn the crane into a safe, connected installation. It can now be run by an operator, controlled remotely or operate fully autonomously using 3D scanning.
Electrical engineering
The complete electrical design was drawn up in EPLAN. Over 18 metres of new electrical panels were fitted inside the empty mechanical beam, supported by more than 25 compact cabinets throughout the crane for junction boxes, safe entry and network antennas. A 1250 A main circuit breaker protects the installation.
Drive technology
A Smart Line rectifier feeds a common DC bus, and Sinamics frequency converters communicate via DRIVE-CLiQ. The 40-ton hoist runs on a 90 kW motor, the crane travel on 2 × 30 kW motors and the trolley on a 15 kW motor.
3D Precision
Every mechanical intervention was driven by 3D design, so new parts fitted right away during the short standstills. We manufactured and installed various mechanical components, and replaced and aligned the motors.
Smart connectivity
A complex network topology, including fibre-optic communication on the crane itself, links all systems. Dedicated antennas handle remote control, data exchange with the client's handling system, video transmission and communication with the electro-hydraulic clamping system on the crane hook.
Flexible operation
The crane supports three control modes: operation by a crane operator in the cabin, remote control by workers on the floor, or fully autonomous operation using a 3D scanning system.
Safe access
RFID controls entry to the crane, so only authorised operators and maintenance staff get on board. Encoders combined with an LPR system determine the crane's exact position at all times.
Customer value.
Modernised Without Compromise.
The revamp was carried out without forcing the customer to choose between upgrading critical equipment and keeping production running. Thanks to 3D-driven engineering, every part was prepared in advance and installed during short, pre-planned standstills, with the crane returned to full operation after each one. The result: no extended downtime and no compromise on a tight, demanding schedule.
The real value goes beyond planning. The crane's mechanical structure has proven its reliability for six decades and is perfectly integrated into the building and the production flow it serves. Replacing it would have meant re-engineering that fit from scratch, at considerable cost and risk. Instead, we modernised the controls, electrics and safety systems while keeping the structure the customer already trusted. The customer now has a proven asset with today's technology, ready for many more years of service.
