Integrating an automated building system.

An automated building system that controls window screens and indoor climate for our new office extension based on real-time weather forecasts, reducing energy waste and manual intervention. The office already relied on an existing heat pump and gas boiler. Replacing them wasn't an option, they still met the building's heating and cooling needs.

We integrated our own automated building system reducing energy waste and manual intervention without disrupting the building's existing HVAC setup.

Challenge

The challenge was integrating our two legacy systems into a new, forecast-driven control environment, coordinating them as one system rather than leaving them to operate in isolation.

Expertise

Electrical engineering and understanding of existing HVAC control interfaces combined with the automation expertise to build a control layer around existing equipment that was never designed to work together.

The Solution: Automated building system without disrupting the building's existing HVAC setup.

By engineering a solution that made use of the existing, still-functioning heat pump and gas boiler instead of replacing them, we delivered a cost-efficient path to a modern, forecast-driven climate system, avoiding the expense and disruption of ripping out equipment that didn't need to go. That economical approach to engineering is what turned the project into real value: the same outcome, at a fraction of the cost of a full HVAC overhaul.

Automated control

Automated control of window screens and indoor climate, driven by real-time and forecasted weather data.

Integrating legacy equipment

Full integration of the existing heat pump and gas boiler into a single control system, without replacing either unit.

Coordinated control

A single point of control for the integrator's own software to manage the entire climate setup.

Customer value.

A genuinely useful step in the client's digitalization.

The building now responds proactively to the weather: screens close ahead of direct sun, and heating or cooling adjusts before conditions change, cutting energy waste without anyone having to intervene manually.

As a systems integrator ourselves, we approach every project the same way: cost-efficiently, and without writing off a client's prior investments. This project illustrates that exactly: integrating legacy HVAC equipment into a forecast-driven control system instead of replacing it, making full use of systems that were still fully functional. It's the same principle we apply across our projects: build on what already works, rather than starting from scratch.
